I was born in Long Eaton, Derbyshire on the first day of 1975. At 309 College Street to be exact. The town then somehow became some sort of Hotel California, as despite several attempts to check out, I could never leave. I attended university in Durham and also went to live in Bristol, but both ended with a return to Downtown LE.
I always enjoyed writing, and as well as doing this as a hobby, I was able to utilise it in my work as a road safety officer for nine years, first in Nottingham and then in Derby. I wrote copy for a campaign aimed at reducing the number of road collisions among young drivers and developed projects to teach children how to cross the road.
In August 2009 I approached two charities in Nottingham to gain more copywriting experience and worked with the National Association of Child Contact Centres and the Nottinghamshire Deaf Society on their websites and printed literature.
But I always wanted to write novels, and during a whirlwind period between September 2010 and October 2011, when I moved to London, got married and travelled to New Zealand, I also compiled my memories of watching football matches with my Dad. The resulting novel, ‘Son of My Father’, has now been published by DB Publishing of Derby and is available to buy at Amazon.
